ABOUT

“The business of making memories and selling fun since 1998.” At an early age, a young boy was fascinated with the idea of creating ways for families to make good memories, partly because his parents were often too busy to make good memories with him and his siblings. This fascination would evolve into a dream that followed him throughout his career and, unknowingly, guides him to learn the skills needed to turn his dream into a reality. Greg Alexander served in the United States Air Force for 10 years as a aircraft mechanic and learned analytical thinking — how to solve problems by looking at options at every angle. After leaving the Air Force, he worked as a field engineer for Eastman Kodak where he learned cost analysis, and developed ways to improve how things were being done as he serviced a large network of customers including American Express and Meryl Lynch. In 1992, Greg moved to Atlanta and purchased Golden Glide Skating rink. Using the skills learned from his career experiences, within 2 years, Golden Glide was both a profitable and award-winning skating rink serving thousands of guests who made life long memories. Always looking for ways to improve things, in 1997, Greg designed, on paper, the ultimate skating rink. In 1998, he purchased property, built the rink as designed and named it Cascade Family Skating. Construction started 1999 and its doors were opened to the public in March, 2000.Within three months, Cascade Family Skating (currently referred to as “Cascade”) became nationally known by hosting birthday parties and other events for artist including P-Diddy, Beyonce, Magic Johnson and others. It also became a popular location for shooting music videos. In 2006, Chris Robinson chose Cascade as the preferred site to film the movie “ATL”. Shortly after the film’s release, people from all over the world knew about Cascade. Visitors from as far as Japan came to experience the fun of skating and making memories at Cascade. For the past 20 years, Cascade has been the number one rink in the country. In 2014, Greg took on a new challenge of running and then purchasing as well as expanding, what is now called Metro Fun Center, a multifaceted entertainment center helping families create good memories. Metro Fun Center offers Bowling, Skating, Arcades, Billiards, Inflatable Bounce Houses, a Restaurant, and Lounge. In 2016, after many years of success with Golden Glide and Cascade Family Skating, Greg sold Golden Glide as he continued to focus on business expansions.
